Q & A

What if complications arise during labor?

As CPMs we are experts in physiologic birth. We are able to handle many complications at home. When situations arise that are out of our scope of practice we facilitate transport to the hospital.

How can I ensure the safety of my baby during a home birth?

Birth in any setting comes with risks and no outcome is guaranteed. As your birth team we will use all the tools and knowledge available to us to ensure the best possible outcome.

What qualifications should my midwife have?

Speaking for Baby Bloom, we are both Certified Professional Midwives licensed in the state of Idaho.

How do I prepare my home for the birth?

Preparing for birth is important, take the time to prepare and know preparation is different for every birther. Classes, online or in person, books, podcasts and coming to prenatal visits with questions are all a good start.

What if I change my mind and want to go to the hospital?

At any time during care you choose to change care providers we will full facilitate that transfer of care.

Does Baby Bloom take insurance?

Not at this time.

What is the difference between a CPM and a Doula?

A midwife provides clinical medical care during pregnancy, labor, and delivery, ensuring the health and safety of both mother and baby. In contrast, doula offers non-medical support, assisting with emotional and physical comfort throughout the labor process. Together, they play vital roles in creating a positive birth experience.

Does Baby Bloom offer water birth?

Yes, either in a tub of your own or we have tubs made available to you.

Are ultrasounds and other screenings offered for myself and my baby?

We refer out for diagnostic ultrasounds and offer all screenings for you and your baby.

How do we receive the birth certificate and social security card?

We file for both of those items and you will receive them in the mail.
